Process Point Sources

Process point sources of VOCs and HAPs can be individually defined for a chemical plant. Chemical reactors, distillation columns, catalytic cracking units, condensers, strippers, furnaces, and boilers are examples of point sources that discharge both air toxics and criteria pollutants through vent pipes or stacks. Emission reductions or control are achieved through process changes focused on pollution prevention and the use of add-on control devices such as adsorbers, absorbers, thermal or catalytic incinerators, fabric filters, or electrostatic precipitators (ESPs).
