Changing a process or operation to reduce emissions can be more practical than trying to control the emissions. For example, a pneumatic conveyance system eliminates the emission problems of a conveyor belt, which can require any or all preventive procedures (i.e., enclosures, wet suppression, housekeeping of spilled materials, and stabilization of materials) and add-on equipment. Another solution is to use new intermediate bulk containers (IBCs), such as shown in Figure 5.23.1.
