P in the coating. These data suggest that part of the deposit forming mechanism in this case results from a reaction between the TCP or a portion of the TCP and the iron from the metal surface. The extent of the catalytic effect over coating thickness suggests a transport mechanism for the iron to the reacting surface or the TCP to the metal surface through what appears to be a porous solid coating. These data show a catalytic effect at all temperatures and an increase in the deposition rate with increasing temperature.

Figure 7 shows the deposition rate as a function of time at 700°C for a series of concentrations which vary by a factor of 100. The time of deposition in this
