When the foundation is subjected to X1 cos ot, the structural mass is induced to vibrate. The ratio of the amplitude of the mass motion, X2, to the amplitude of the support motion, X1, is also the transmissibility shown in Equation 3.23.

The transmissibility versus o/p for various ps is shown in Figure 3.8. A few interesting features of vibration isolation can be observed from the figure: Tr is always less than one when o/p is greater than v^2, regardless of the damping ratio; when o/p is less than v^2, Tr, depending; on the damping ratio, is always equal to or greater than one; and Tr is equal to one when o/p equals \fl regardless of the amount of damping.
