Commissioning

At the completion of the installation phase, and sometimes concurrent with the installation phase depending on the occupancy of the area served, the new or modified systems must be commissioned for service. The construction process is not complete until all systems have been fully commissioned and accepted by the host facility/ owner. In essence, this is the phase of construction in which all design assumptions and calculations are verified through practical application of the installed equipment. While the specific procedure varies depending on the type of equipment and applications involved, the basic elements of the commissioning process apply to almost all types of projects. These basic elements are startup, testing, and operational service. These elements are followed by training of operational personnel and the development of long-term OM&R procedures.
