The low current regions of Figs. 1 and 2 are linear on a log i vs E plot. They are controlled by the catalyst activity. The mass and specific activities of Vu-Pti and HS-Pti are comprised between the mass and specific activities of ETEK20 and ETEK30. The low Pt content Vu-Pti and HS300-

Pti catalysts are therefore active and perform well.
