817 Storage of Waste Heat

Waste heat can be utilized to adapt otherwise mismatched loads to waste-heat sources. This is possible because of the inherent ability of all materials to absorb energy while undergoing a temperature increase. The absorbed energy is termed stored heat. The quantity that can be stored is dependent upon the temperature rise that can be achieved in the storage material as well as the intrinsic thermal qualities of the material, and can be estimated from the equation
