The major factor restricting much more widespread use of titanium and its alloys is cost. However, we have now seen the significant breakthrough of titanium use in the family automobile—the Toyota Altezza only on sale in Japan currently. If rumors of a lower cost extraction "reverse electrolytic" process [40] are true, then dramatically increased use of titanium and its alloys will occur.
