Ti-6Al-4V alloy has been investigated using the LENS, SLS/HIP, DLF, Aeromet, and the Penn State processes. Results of mechanical properties are shown in Table 14.10 and are compared to a variety of other forms of Ti-6Al-4V. The

LENS material has an excellent combination of strength and ductility, although its ductility is about what is typical for a casting and its strength is much higher. Again, it is important to consider the effect of heat treatments on mechanical property, and the LENS material was only tested in the as-deposited condition. The SLS/HIP material also has excellent strength, but its ductility is lower than all other processes and forms. The Penn State process has produced material properties between wrought and cast.
