811 Precautions when working with computer controlled systems

• Do not perform electric welding on the vehicle without first disconnecting the computer.

• Do not subject the computer to high temperature by placing it in a high bake paint oven.

• Always earth yourself to release the static electricity charge that could damage sensitive components.

• Always use test instruments with a high impedance (internal resistance) to avoid loading electronic devices.

• Do not use chemical cleaning agents on the ECM.

• Avoid using steam cleaning and high pressure water jets in the vicinity of the ECM.

• Do not add units to the vehicle without first assuring yourself that they will not interfere with computer controlled systems.
