Pipeline Pumps

Centrifugal pumps are used on every major liquid pipeline in the world to transport a variety of fluids, including crude oil, motor gasoline, fuel oil, jet fuel, liquefied petroleum gases, and anhydrous ammonia. Pump efficiency is of primary importance because of the power required to transport the liquid. Most pipeline systems install pumps in series because the differential head requirement is primarily energy loss due to friction, and an outage of one of the units would result in only a partial loss in the throughput capacity.
